\n\t\t\t\t\t\tTr\u2019ond\u00ebk-Klondike stands out as a very rare occurrence and provides remarkable evidence of growing colonial influence within a concentrated timeframe \u2013 from the construction of the first commercial fur-trading post at Fort Reliance in 1874, to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896-1898, and, ultimately, the consolidation of colonial authority by 1908.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk-Klondike is located in the homeland of the Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk Hw\u00ebch\u2019in, in north-western Canada. It is a serial property that includes eight component parts: Fort Reliance; Ch\u2019\u00ebd\u00e4hd\u00ebk (Forty Mile); Ch\u2019\u00ebd\u00e4hd\u00ebk Tth\u2019\u00e4n K\u2019et (D\u00ebnezhu Graveyard); Fort Cudahy and Fort Constantine; Tr\u2019och\u00ebk; Dawson City; J\u00ebjik Dh\u00e4 D\u00ebnezhu Kek\u2019it (Moosehide Village); and Tthe Zr\u0105y Kek\u2019it (Black City). These have been significant resource and cultural areas for the Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk Hw\u00ebch\u2019in\u2019s ancestors for thousands of years and were fundamentally transformed during the colonial occupation of these lands.<\/p>\n

Collectively, the geographical, structural, and archaeological evidence of the Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk-Klondike serial property represents a rare and exceptionally preserved tangible illustration of dramatic modifications of land use, settlement patterns, and economy caused by the rapid and large scale of the colonising incursion of newcomers into the ancestral land of the Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk Hw\u00ebch\u2019in in search of gold and precious minerals. It also testifies to the intense upheaval that impacted the Indigenous people between 1874 and 1908, their dispossession from, and marginalisation in, their ancestral land, as well as their response and adaptation to the progressive colonial affirmation of the newly established Dominion of Canada. The component parts are also places where, through the endurance and revival of traditions, the Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk Hw\u00ebch\u2019in have fostered and maintained their distinct cultural identity.<\/p>\n

The Tr\u2019ond\u00ebk-Klondike World Heritage Site Management<\/em> Plan was signed by all four Parties in July 2015. The Plan outlines how the site\u2019s Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) will be protected, managed, and shared. It brings together federal, territorial, municipal, and First Nations laws, policies, and traditional practices to ensure long-term stewardship and protection of the site.<\/p>\n
